In honour of Noel Hush
Noel Hush was an outstanding chemist at the highest international level, laying the theoretical foundations of our understanding of bond making and bond breaking, with his model of electron transfer covering a wide range of chemistry and biochemistry.
Through the establishment of the Department of Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Sydney in 1971, Professor Hush was instrumental in progressing the discipline of chemistry within Australia, based on the strength of his science, his highly engaging personality and his abundant generosity of spirit.
Professor Hush's research career spanned eight decades, and he remained a prolific researcher and prize winner until his very last days.
He passed away on 20 March 2019 at the age of 94.
